**WHAT THIS FORUM IS FOR**
Questions about running SocietyPress, help finding your way around, sharing what you’ve built, and meeting other society admins doing the same work. Most of your answers will come from fellow members — this is a working community, not a support desk.
**WHERE TO POST**
– Installation won’t run, setup wizard is stuck, server errors: “Installation & Setup”
– Day-to-day “how do I…” questions about using SocietyPress: “Using SocietyPress”
– Bringing data from ENS, CSV, GEDCOM, another platform: “Migration & Data”

Not here: bug reports and feature requests. Those go through the dedicated intake forms at /bug-reports/ and /feature-requests/ so they don’t get lost in a thread.
**HOW TO ASK A GOOD QUESTION**
– One topic per thread. “Also I’m having trouble with…” in the middle of someone else’s thread rarely gets answered.
– Tell us what you tried.
– Include your SocietyPress version (Settings > About) and your WordPress version (Dashboard > Updates) if it’s technical.
– Screenshots help enormously.
**HOW MODERATION WORKS**
I’m the only moderator at launch. Over time, I’ll promote members to moderator based on the quality and frequency of their help — no application, no titles, just noticing who shows up for other people. If that’s you, we’ll have a conversation.
I’ll step in when an official voice is needed — a bug I need to confirm, a roadmap question, a correction on something technical. Otherwise I try to stay out of the way. The community is this forum’s real value.
**HOUSE RULES**
– Be kind. Society work is volunteer work; everyone here is doing their best.
– No off-topic threads. Off-topic dilutes the thing that makes this useful.
– No self-promotion that isn’t genuinely helpful. Posting your society site in Show & Tell is great. Posting a paid service that “also works with SocietyPress” is not.
– No sharing of member data — not yours, not anyone’s. Even “example” data should be scrubbed.
